Wildfire

“Don’t play with fire if
You don’t want to get burnt.”
That’s what she told me
As she turned and sauntered away.

You don’t want to get burnt,
But who could resist such magnificent fury?
As she turned and sauntered away,
She casually lit a cigarette.

Who could resist such magnificent fury?
The raging beauty of the open flame almost calls to you.
She casually lit a cigarette,
Its smoke swirling through the crisp air.

The raging beauty of the open flame almost calls to you.
In a way, I think I wanted to get burnt. That flame…
Its smoke swirling in the air…
Until she’s gone.

In a way, I think I wanted to get burnt. That flame…
It drew me in like an insect. The point is,
Until she’s gone,
You don’t know what you’re getting into.

It drew me in like an insect. The point is,
Don’t play with fire if
You don’t know what you’re getting into.
That’s what she told me.

No, it has nothing to do with my personal life.

I remember when this happened that one time in never. Those were the good old days.
This is well written. So when those poets are like "I've been working for like thirty years and I'm so deep and blah" we can show them something like this that sounds just as good written by someone who's like "yeah I do poetry sometimes... what of it?"
